Vrai Watches Yamada’s First Time


I’m still bowled over by what a find this series is. It’s a comedy about horny teens that actually focuses on its female lead and her agency, talks about sex in terms of how awkward and often silly it is rather than “hey don’t you wanna jerk off to these underage teens trying to have sex?,” and only has one really irritating side character who thankfully doesn’t show up until halfway through (if you hit a slump at episodes 6-7, don’t worry it improves again).

These are good, nice kids and I enjoyed spending time with them.

A Good Beginning Makes a Good Ending

“Being well-prepared and focused at the start of something often leads to success.”

Origin: Middle English, from the South English Legendary, a manuscript about the lives of saints. In modern usage, the second half of this proverb is often the more somber “all good things must come to an end.”

I suspect this one of being tongue-in-cheek: Barnaby is very prepared for the mission but it still goes awry; meanwhile, he and Kotetsu get off to an abysmal start but are destined to wind up inseparable.
